Abstract:
Nanotechnology provides novel strategies for the design of nanocomposites with precisely tunable physicochemical properties, enabling their application in many fields. Among various hybrid systems, polymeric matrices modified with inorganic nanoparticles - particularly superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) and carbon-based nanoparticles - have emerged as multifunctional materials with significant potential. The integration of inorganic nanostructures not only enhances the mechanical, optical, and thermal properties of polymeric matrices but also brings additional functionalities such as magnetic responsiveness, highly effective adsorption, etc. These hybrid systems can interact with a wide range of organic compounds like water contaminants, including pharmaceuticals and dyes, while also can serve as efficient platforms for controlled drug delivery and photocatalysis. This presentation discusses recent advances in the development and multifunctional applications of polymer–inorganic nanoparticles-based composites, emphasizing the role of experimental conditions in the nanoparticle dispersion in the composite, surface processes, and overall functional performance of the composites.
