General information:

Prof. Dipl. Eng. Jan Piľa, Ph.D. has been working in the field of Aerospace engineering for 40 years. He graduated Aircraft Engineering at The Air Force Academe in Kosice, Slovakia in 1981, PhD study in the field of Armament and Military Technology at The Air Force Academe in Kosice in 2003, Assoc. prof. in the field of Safety of Technical Systems at The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Technical University of Kosice in 2010 and professor at the field of Motor vehicles, Railway vehicles, Ships and Aircraft at The Technical University of Kosice in 2017. During his professional career, he performed various functions: Vice-dean for Science Research and International Relations, the head of Department of Aircraft Engineering, Vice-Chairman of the Scientific Board of the Aeronautic faculty, Vice-Chairman of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Acta Avionica, and others.

Currently prof. Piľa is a professor at Department of Aircraft Technologies, Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering, Silesian University of Technology and professor at The University of Business in Prague, Czech Republic. He is a graduate of certified courses at The National Defence University of Miklós Zrinyi in Budapest, Hungaria, certificate of University of Cambridge and NATO Stanag 6001 SLP 3, Safety Management System and others.

Prof. Dipl. Eng. Jan Pila, Ph.D. is a recognized scientific and pedagogical personality in the field of Aeronautical engineering and Air transport safety at the national and international level. He is an expert with long-term professional, pedagogical and managerial experience.
