ABOUT THE FIELD OF STUDY

The field of study is being prepared under the KATAMARAN program from the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), in partnership with the Kiev National University of Building and Architecture - KNUBA (Ukraine). Students during 4-semester Master's studies will have the option of carrying out stationary classes and distance learning.
The assumptions of the project are in line with the mission of the Silesian University of Technology - educating highly qualified staff for a knowledge-based society and economy - and the university's vision - preparing the elite of society and supporting the dynamic development of the economy in the spirit of ethical values.
The creation of the course is a response to the needs of a dynamically developing market that requires more and more specialists who will be able to use modern technologies in their work, especially in the area of modern business services. The sector of modern services for business (Business Service Sector, BSS) has been developing very dynamically in Poland for several years. This sector includes the activities of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Shared Service Centers (SSC), IT centers (Information Technology, IT) and Research and Development (R&D) centers.

WHY IT IS WORTH STUDYING COGNITIVE TECHNOLOGIES?

Global producers of software for business declare the development of the use of cognitive technologies in their products. The global market for smart solutions is growing rapidly. It is estimated that in 2022 the value of this market will reach 5 billion dollars. The field of study in preparation is also a response to the development trends of the West in connection with the development of Industry 4.0 and modern Smart Cities technologies. The proposed field of study responds to the demand for specialists to handle these areas.

  • The proposed course is a combination of traditional cognitive science with cognitive technologies.
  • Studies in English open the door to global employers.
  • Completion of this type of studies increases competitiveness on the Polish and foreign labor market.
  • The eastern market is also becoming more and more attractive, where also cognitive technologies are dynamically developing.

Moreover, students who did not obtain the professional title of engineer during the 1st degree studies have the opportunity to supplement their technical education with technical and IT subjects.

INTERNSHIPS AND APPRENTICESHIPS

The University offers the opportunity to participate in scientific projects and internships, which allows students to gain practical experience and develop their skills.

YOUR CAREER

The proposed field of study Cognitive Technologies allows you to gain practical skills in the use of modern technologies used in Industry 4.0, modern business services and Smart City management.

By becoming a graduate of the field, you can, among others, become:

  • specialist in interaction with artificial intelligence systems,
  • business process analyst,
  • specialist in cognitive and decision-making processes,
  • a specialist in designing solutions for Industry 4.0,
  • Smart City specialist,
  • data scientist,
  • a research or research and teaching employee.

Cognitive technologies - the direction awarded the certificate
"Studies with a Future"

On February 10, 2022, the Competition Committee of the Accreditation Program "Studies with a Future" decided to award the direction Cognitive technologies (second-cycle studies in English) conducted at the Silesian University of Technology with the Accreditation Certificate "Studies with a Future" 2022. The study's focus was on the initiative of Prof. PŚ Aleksandra Kuzior. It was prepared within the project by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) within the KATAMARAN program.
The Accreditation Certificate Ceremony will be held on April 11, 2022, in the Red Room of the Działyński Palace of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań.
