Our employees in the top 2% of influential scientists

Our employees have once again found themselves among the 2% of the most influential scientists in the world in terms of the adopted indicators of citations of their publications. This is the fifth edition of the ranking initiated in 2019 based on publications in the journal PLOS Biology by authors from Stanford University, Elsevier and SciTech Strategies, presenting a publicly available database providing standardized information taking into account publication achievements. The list contains the names of scientists ranked on the basis of the adopted indicators of assessment of scientific achievements, such as: Hirsch index, number of citations and role and place on the list of authors. The list included specialists from 22 disciplines divided into 174 more detailed subdisciplines. The full list of scientists and the article in the journal Plos Biology, which proposed the above classification method, are available here.

Representative of our Faculty at the European Congress of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

The 15th edition of the European Congress of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the largest event dedicated to the SME sector in Europe, has come to an end at the International Congress Centre in Katowice. As every year, scientists from the Silesian University of Technology took part in the panels and discussions. Adrian Kapczyński, EngD., an employee of the Department of Applied Mathematics, also took part in the event, leading a discussion on cybersecurity.

It is with deep regret that we announce that on 27 October 2025, at the age of 85, dr hab. nauk matematycznych Stefan Czerwik, prof. PŚ, (Doctor of Mathematical Sciences, Professor SUT) retired employee of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, passed away.

The meeting showed that mathematics and computer science are not just school subjects, but the key to understanding the modern world.
