Laboratorium 830
Dzięki ponad 60 stanowiskom komputerowym i niewielkiemu centrum danych połączonemu z salą laboratoryjną, Laboratorium 830 daje największą przestrzeń do praktycznego poznania informatyki dla studentów i praktyków.
Laboratory 830
The laboratory is located on the 8th level of the first building of the Faculty. It is equipped with a specialized IT system, as well as standard workstations. It is designed to offer a laboratory environment for different computer architectures. For that reason, it is equipped with computer systems with main processors Sparc, Power, Itanium, Intel, ARM, and working with different architectures starting from PC clusters through midrange like AS/400 systems up to SMP systems. This hardware heterogeneity is the base for various software and hardware management mechanisms. There are available hardware resources management systems, like IBM HMC Console, IBM BladeCenter MMC, and corresponding software solutions. The virtualization as the foundation for cloud computing architecture is presented starting from hosted virtualization, like Oracle VirtualBox, VMWare Workstation, up to hosting visualization delivered by VMware ESXi or Citrix Hypervisor. Also, the architecture for application virtualization is presented with a docker service environment. The ARM system starting from Raspberry PI or other microcomputers are available for IoT applications.
The storage management solutions are available starting from hardware implementations like disk arrays, for example, IBM DS System, but also the open-source software alternatives, like NAS solutions, e.g., FreeNAS systems.
For a massive processing system, like visual surveillance systems, the GPU accelerators are presented based on NVidia solutions. Basic CUDA programming but also advanced frameworks, like Tensorflow, are presented for image analysis, e.g., object detection or object classification. All these elements are correlated with data management systems for high availability and high-performance clustering solutions. With more than 60 PC workstations and a small data center linked with the lab room, the Laboratory 830 becomes the largest space for practicing applied informatics for students and practitioners.
