CLASSIFICATION REVISITED

Traditionally, classification is applied and evaluated for the best possible quality. In my presentation I shall show that applications in Life Sciences prefer to take advantage of the structure of the classifier, rather than its quality alone, since this structure may reveal important clues about the modeled phenomena. I shall briefly review our methodology that includes Monte Carlo Feature Selection and rough set rule-based modelling and show how we were able to make some discoveries in virology, transcriptomics and common diseases.
