Choosing a Supervisor and a Thesis Topic

  • At the beginning of June, proposed topics for theses for the following academic year are announced.
  • Each student is required to choose a supervisor and a topic before June 30th. Topics can be chosen from those proposed, or determined individually with a prospective supervisor using the CYT application.
  • The application is available at cyt.aei.polsl.pl . To log in the same credentials should be used as for the university mail (e.g. id@student.polsl.pl). Information about using the application can be downloaded after logging in.
  • After choosing the topic and supervisor, the student is obliged to submit, by the end of September, to room 515, the Declaration of Approval of thesis topic - completed and signed by Thesis supervisor and Head of the supervisor department.
  • If the prospective supervisor is not a member of Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, the student is required to send an e-mail with the topic and the name of the supervisor to pracedyplomowe_rau@polsl.pl, with a copy to the supervisor, by June, 30th. If the prospective supervisor is a member of another faculty, is the supervisor should submit a written application to the Dean for Education (detailed information is available at the office of the Vice Dean for Education)
  • Students who have not selected a supervisor and topic by the due date will be assigned a supervisor administratively (topic to be determined with the assigned supervisor).
This information is entered into USOS.
  • After July 1st, a change of topic and/or supervisor is possible according to the WAEiI rules (available on the website https://www.polsl.pl/rau/proces-dyplomowania ).
That includes the case when the topic is determined with the supervisor who has been assigned administratively.
  • After the deadline for choosing a supervisor and a topic, information is entered into USOS.
