Lecture for young people at School Complex No. 9 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój

Knowledge tastes best in practice – this was confirmed by students of School Complex No. 9 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój during a guest lecture by Mirosław Witkowski, MSc Eng., from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics at the Silesian University of Technology. The meeting showed that mathematics and computer science are not just school subjects, but the key to understanding the modern world.

As part of activities promoting science, a representative of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics at the Silesian University of Technology, Mirosław Witkowski, MSc Eng., gave a guest lecture at School Complex No. 9 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, telling students about how mathematics and computer science work outside of textbooks.

The lecturer presented practical applications of computer science and mathematics to the students – from the secrets of computer construction, file storage, computer graphics, through data processing algorithms and computer networks, to cryptography, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The lecture aimed to show that mathematics and computer science are not just school subjects, but tools that shape the modern world.

The students actively participated in the meeting, asking questions and sharing their insights. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about what our Faculty has to offer and discover how these topics are explored in depth in our classes.

We would like to thank School Complex No. 9 for the invitation and their openness to cooperation. We hope that this is just the beginning of our joint activities!
