7th Chess Tournament for the Championship of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics

VII Chess Tournament for the Championship of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics

WHEN: 30.05.2025 at 10:00 in room 507. Ending around 14:00

TOURNAMENT FORM:
over 10 participants - Swiss system; seven rounds, pace of play: 10 minutes + 5 seconds per move.
9-10 participants - each with each; 8 minutes + 2 seconds per move.
Up to 8 participants - each with each; 10 minutes + 5 seconds per move.

GOAL: popularization of chess at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and sports competition.

WHO: any employee and student of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics can take part in the tournament, regardless of their level of play. Amateur players are very welcome.

PRIZES: cups for the winner (Master of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics) and the best player without FIDE ranking and category (Amateur Master of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics), chess books.

Please send applications by 28.05.2025 to piotr.slanina@polsl.pl or in person to Piotr Słanina. Please provide information about your FIDE rating or chess category. If there are enough places, there should be no problem with registering before the tournament itself.

We invite you to participate in the fourth edition of the MuMaK team mathematics competition for secondary school pupils and students, and the KOALA team task competition for primary school pupils (grades 6, 7 and 8) and secondary school pupils.

A team of students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, consisting of Rafał Gibała, Paweł Hajok, and Karol Zając (‘Monkey Testing’), took third place during the Hackathon held as part of BITFestival 2025 (29 November 2025 - 30 November 2025).
