Debate on Science and Business at the 10th Forum of Intelligent Development
The Forum of Intelligent Development is an event dedicated to promoting innovative scientific research and cutting-edge technologies. The 10th anniversary edition of the Forum focused on modern solutions for enterprises, public administration, and higher education.
A roundtable discussion opened a special debate featuring representatives from the world of business, politics, academia, local government, and business organizations. Participants included, among others, Prof. Marek Gzik, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Prof. Aleksandra Kuzior, Dean of the Faculty of Organization and Management.
– Modern universities are opening up to cooperation with other countries. The Silesian University of Technology, as part of the "EURECA-PRO" project, has formed a consortium with eight European universities from Austria, Germany, Belgium, France, Romania, Spain, and Greece. The project offers students and lecturers the opportunity to take part in internships, study visits, and placements abroad. It also involves programs that support intelligent and sustainable development, as well as sustainable production and consumption. New study programs are being developed to meet the needs of the labor market and the rapidly evolving world of innovative technologies – said Prof. Aleksandra Kuzior.
The discussion also addressed the need for systemic changes in the implementation of innovation, strengthening and promoting competitiveness, and creating methodologies for development procedures focused on the commercialization of research activities.
– Unfortunately, Poland ranks fourth from the bottom in the EU in terms of innovation index. Therefore, we must significantly strengthen cooperation between science and business. Higher education is a forge of talent that should meet the expectations of the labor market – stated Prof. Marek Gzik, describing the creation of new models of symbiosis between entrepreneurs and universities.
After the presentations, the Leaders of Intelligent Development Gala was held. It was opened by Damian Baran, General Director of the Center for Intelligent Development. Participants attended the awards ceremony recognizing recipients of the Leader of Intelligent Development, Scientist of the Future, and Brand of the Future titles, as well as the Polish Intelligent Development Award and the R&D Impact Award. Prof. Aleksandra Kuzior, Chair of the Award Committee, took part in presenting the commemorative statuettes to the laureates. The event was hosted by Edi Pyrek, who also delivered a moving lecture on imagining the unimaginable – "about the future of the world in the age of AI."
