Winter Gathering
The Babel Collective, a newly established Linguistics Student Association, organized the much-anticipated Winter Gathering on December 11, blending education, culture, and celebration. The event provided an excellent opportunity to meet new people, exchange cultural experiences, discover diverse ways of celebrating the holidays, and enjoy a warm winter atmosphere. To make the occasion even more unforgettable, they teamed up with faculty members to host the first special edition of Speakers’ Corner, an exciting addition from the Department of Applied Linguistics at the Faculty of Organization and Management.
Speakers’ Corner is the Faculty’s flagship event, allowing participants to deliver 3-minute speeches on any topic, this time focused on winter or global Christmas celebrations. Open to everyone, it showcased diverse perspectives and cultural insights. Topics ranged from “Christmas Celebrations Around the World” to “A Unique Winter Beyond the Arctic Circle” and “Arctic Snow Hotels”, ensuring something for everyone.
In addition to Speakers’ Corner, which enriched the gathering by emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue and cultural exchange during the winter season, the event featured a performance of popular winter songs by a string sextet from the unique Polibudorkiestra.
