ACADEMIC EXCHANGE PROJECT under the EDUCATION PROGRAM (EEA Grants FM 2014-2021)

"The Education Programme - Component II - Mobility in higher education project benefits from funding worth EUR 80,544 received from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Funds. The aim of the project implemented in the academic year 22-23 was to strengthen cooperation in the field of mobility of students and employees between Silesian University of Technology and partner institutions.

By joining the EEA Education Program, the Silesian University of Technology implemented a project under Component II - "Mobility in higher education" regarding the international exchange of students and university employees (teaching, scientific and administrative) in the field of:

  • student mobility - studies / traineeships,
  • staff mobility - conducting teaching classes in institutions from the Donor States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), participating in seminars, training, workshops and conferences; job shadowing visits,
  • preparatory visits - representatives of Polish educational institutions in institutions from the Donor States in order to establish or develop cooperation and/or prepare a joint project.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM - General information

The program was established under the intergovernmental agreement on the implementation of the EEA Financial Mechanism for 2014-2021, concluded between Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and the Republic of Poland.

The Education Program includes recruitment in 4 components:

Component I
Professional staff development:
  • Study visits - short visits to Donor States aimed at the professional development of employees from the formal or non-formal education sector, excluding pre-school education, in the form of exchange of experiences or "job shadowing" visits;
  • Intensive training – training conducted by trainers/experts from Donor States organized in Poland for Polish staff working in the education sector.
Component II
Mobility in higher education:
  • Student mobility (1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle students) – trips of Polish students to universities from Donor States, arrivals of students from Donor States to Poland;
  • Mobility of university employees (teaching, scientific and administrative) - mobility for the purpose of conducting teaching classes, carrying out "job shadowing" visits, participating in seminars, training, workshops and conferences.
Component III
Institutional cooperation to improve the quality and alignment of vocational education and training (VET) and professional continuing education.

Possible actions::

  • A - developing or updating the educational offer of vocational education and training/continuing education institutions, including teaching programs;
  • B - exchange of experiences and good practices, organization of joint initiatives with partners from the Donor States (e.g. seminars, conferences, educational meetings, intensive training for students and staff);
  • C - development or updating of local/regional/national strategies for the development of vocational/vocational education and continuing education;
  • D - distance education.
Component IV
Institutional cooperation to improve the quality and adaptation of the educational offer at all levels and in all forms (excluding VET and professional continuing education).

Possible actions:

  • A - developing or updating the educational offer;
  • B - exchange of experiences and good practices, organization of joint initiatives with partners from the Donor States (e.g. seminars, conferences, educational meetings, intensive training for students and staff, cultural events related to education);
  • C - development or updating of local/regional/national education and training strategies to include education in regional development;
  • D - distance education.

NEW: For the first time, it is possible to apply for the new measure "D" - "distance learning" (in Component 3 and 4), which is intended to support organizations in implementing various online activities.

  • Reducing economic and social inequalities within the European Economic Area,
  • Strengthening human potential and expanding knowledge in Poland, Supporting the development of staff working in the field of education and students,
  • Strengthening bilateral relations between Poland and the Donor States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) in the area of education.

Mobilities under the Education Programme are carried out on the principles of the Erasmus+ program and vary in the amount of funding provided to the participants.
