Dr. hab. nauk matematycznych Stefan Czerwik, prof. PŚ has passed away
He was associated with the Silesian University of Technology from 1991 until his retirement in 2012. He worked at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the Institute of Mathematics, serving as head of the Department of Differential and Functional Equations throughout his career. He was the author of numerous publications and supervised three doctoral students. He was an internationally recognised specialist in functional equations. He will be fondly remembered by the staff of what is now the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics.

The funeral ceremony will take place on 31 October 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady Queen of the Holy Rosary in Łaziska Górne. The rosary prayer will be held in the church chapel at 10:30 a.m.

It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce that the Student Council of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics has been awarded the Rector’s Prize for coming first in the ‘Ankietyzacja’ campaign. The prize was presented by His Magnificence the Rector, Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, during the Zębatka 2026 Gala. We warmly congratulate our Student Council, thank them for all their work within our Department, and wish them continued success and many more wonderful projects!
