6th Chess Tournament for the Championship of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics

VI Chess Tournament for the Championship of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics

WHEN: May 7, 2024 at 2.30 p.m. in room 402. Ends around 6.30 p.m.

TOURNAMENT FORM:
over 10 participants - Swiss system; seven rounds, game pace: 10 minutes + 5 seconds per move.
9-10 participants - round robin; 8 minutes + 2 seconds for movement.
Up to 8 participants - round robin; 10 minutes + 5 seconds to move.

GOAL: popularization of chess at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and sports competition.

WHO: any employee or student of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics can take part in the tournament, regardless of their playing level. Amateur players are very welcome.
In the event of too many applications, admission to the tournament may be based on the order of applications.

PRIZES: cups for the winner (Champion of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics) and the best player without a FIDE rating or category (Amateur Champion of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics), chess books.

We warmly invite all chess enthusiasts to take part in the 8th Chess Tournament for the Championship of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics. The event combines sporting competition with academic integration and promotes chess in a friendly, open atmosphere. Players of all skill levels are welcome.

The Department of Thermal Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology, together with its industry partners, is announcing a nationwide competition for the best Master’s thesis on the application of computational methods to the simulation of thermal and flow processes. The aim of the competition is to promote students’ achievements in the application of computational techniques in the broadly defined field of thermal engineering. Thanks to the presence of representatives from industry and software companies on the competition jury, information about the best theses and their authors will reach potential employers.
