Faculty of Civil Engineering

The competition for the Prize of the Minister of Development and Technology for the best thesis, dissertation and publication in the fields of architecture and construction, planning and spatial development and housing (edition 51 - 2023), announced in 2023, has been settled.

The award of the Minister of Development and Technology in the category of publications was granted to an employee of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Radosław Jasiński, PhD, for a two-volume work entitled ‘The Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology’.

• ‘Masonry bracing walls. Volume I. Impacts. Methods, algorithms and calculation examples.’
• ‘Masonry stiffening walls. Volume II. Bearing capacity. Methods, Algorithms and Calculation Examples.’

The publication was developed in cooperation with Prof. Łukasz Drobec, who acted as scientific editor of the publication.

Both volumes constitute a compendium of knowledge that is of significant importance in both construction theory and practice, particularly in the context of the design and assessment of masonry structures.

The award of the Minister of Development and Technology is one of the most important distinctions in the Polish scientific community, especially in the fields of structural engineering, architecture and spatial planning.

The distinction awarded to Professor Jasinski not only underlines his personal contribution to the development of science, but is also an important recognition for the Silesian University of Technology, whose representative has won this prestigious award.
