POB6 news. An interesting POB3 Scientific Seminar was held, which also included content relevant to POB6. Among the speakers was Prof. Oskar Paris.
🗓️On Friday, May 22, 2026, the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering, and Industrial Automation⛏️ hosted the Seminar of 3rd Priority Research Area of the Silesian University of Technology. The meeting was initiated by: DSc Eng Alicja Kazek-Kęsik, Prof. at SUT (Department of Inorganic, Analytical, and Electrochemical Chemistry, PRA3 Head Coordinator) and Prof. DSc Eng Marcin Lutyński, (Department of Geoengineering and Raw Materials Extraction, DoGaRME, PRA6 Head Coordinator).
🎓🎓The seminar’s guests, speakers, and main discussants were: Prof. DSc Eng Oskar Paris and PhD Eng Dawid Gajda.
🎙️Prof. Oskar Paris is a distinguished researcher and educator at Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria), a former research group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam (Germany), and a member of various research committees, including the Synchrotron Radiation Beamline Committee at the ESRF in Grenoble (France).
Prof. Paris delivered a presentation titled: “Towards sustainable nanoporous systems for energy storage and water treatment: insights from in-situ X-ray and neutron scattering.”
🎙️PhD Dawid Gajda is a graduate PhD student at the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering, and Industrial Automation. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Bureau of Economic Geology within the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin (USA). His research interests focus on the issue of underground hydrogen storage.
PhD Dawid Gajda gave a presentation on: “Fracture mechanics of reservoir rocks and wellbore cement in H2 environments”.
The seminar and discussion were led by Krzysztof Tomiczek, PhD, Assist. Prof. at SUT (DoGaRME, Co-Coordinator of PRA6.1). The content presented proved so interesting to the audience that the meeting lasted 2¼ hours (it had originally been scheduled for 1½ hours).
After the seminar, the guests, accompanied by DSc Eng Anna Kaźmierczak-Bałata, Prof. at SUT (Department of Applied Physics), to a meeting at the laboratories of the Institute of Physics, including DSc Eng Maciej Krzywiecki, Prof. at SUT (Head of the Laboratory of Electron Spectroscopy and Functional Materials at the SUT).
We would like to thank the speakers for their interesting scientific presentations and the participants for their engagement during the event!
