This time the presentation of the paper will be given by Prof. Denis Didier Rousseau, employed at the Silesian University of Technology at the CN-D Institute of Physics.

Below a short summary of the presentation.

Title: Understanding abrupt climate transitions of the last 3.2 Myr and their interest for the study of millennial climate variability, especially from European loess sequences. 

The study of abrupt climate changes is a relatively new field of research that addresses paleoclimate variations that occur in intervals of tens to hundreds of years. Such timescales are much shorter than the tens to hundreds of thousands of years that the astronomical theory of climate addresses. I have revisited several high-resolution proxy records of the past 3.2 Myr. Doing so, I have demonstrated that such millennial variability, as observed in Greenland ice core records, appeared at about 0.9 Ma in Northern Hemisphere and are nevertheless affected by the orbitally induced insolation changes. A particular mechanism is proposed to explain how these abrupt climate changes are organized during a climate cycle, and how they are recorded in European loess sequences and what research perspective can be developed.
