DEAN OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

announces the competition for the position

post-doc research assistant

in the Department of Organic, Bioorganic and Biotechnology, at the Faculty of Chemistry,

at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• the competition for the position of assistant is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339 as amended),
• estimated work commencement date: 1^st April 2024,
• workplace and type of contract: Department of Organic, Bioorganic and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Chemistry, contract of employment,
• period of employment: from 1^st April 2024 to February 28^th 2026 (23 months) (with the possibility of extension on the basis of separated Rector’s regulations).

REQUIREMENTS

• Doctorate in physical chemistry, electrochemistry, materials chemistry, (in)organic chemistry, nanochemistry, nanotechnology, or related fields
• Scientific experience confirmed by (co)authorship of papers from the JCR list in the discipline of Chemical Sciences documented by at least eight (5) publications in highly rated journals (including the list Ministry of Education and Science in Poland);
• Experience in the studies on physicochemical and (electro)chemical properties of fluidic systems; the experience in the work on nanofluids and/or ionanofluids will be of an added value;
• Experience in the realizing domestic and/or foreign scientific projects;
• High motivation toward the scientific development;
• Knowledge of the English language allowing to communicate science in speech and writing at the B2 level;
• Ability to fluently use software necessary for the preparation of scientific publications, such as Origin, ChemDraw, and MS Office.

SCOPE OF DUTIES

1)      Structural, physicochemical, chemical, and electrochemical studies on both static and dynamic changes in the nanoarchitectures of novel ionanofluids (ICON Fluids), incl. organization of surface nanolayers using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and sonoelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

2)      Creativity in the design and construction of the custom-made apparatus for, inter alia, electrochemical and sonoelectrochemical investigations;

3)      Characterization of the novel and reference substances, materials, and systems using analytical techniques available at the Silesian University of Technology (SEM, NMR, TGA-GC-MS, XPS, Raman, FTIR, others).

4)      Preparation of: (a) manuscripts of scientific publications for the journals from the JCR list listed at least TOP10 according to Scopus, (b) conference papers, and (c) bi-weekly reports on the progress of project work,

5)      Supervision over a PhD student working in the project.
