Faculty of Civil Engineering

In the second half of June (June 17), the first beach volleyball tournament for the Golden Shovel in the history of the Faculty of Civil Engineering was organized by the Students’ Council of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Eight teams took part in the tournament, mostly male pairs, but there were also 3 mixed pairs. The entire game was played in the Brazilian system and after 4 hours of fierce competition, the winners were selected. The first place was taken by a couple consisting of: Albert Szymańczyk and Wojciech Ilnicki. The main prize turned out to be the biggest surprise for all participants, despite the name of the tournament, none of the players expected that it would be possible to win the golden shovel.

The tournament was very popular among students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and students from other faculties of the Silesian University of Technology. Despite the fact that the event had to be held in strict sanitary regime and with a minimal audience, it was the first step towards returning to the normality of stationary student life. We hope that from October we will all return to the University and there will be many more opportunities for common integration and competition between students.
