Honorary Doctorate for Professor Jerzy Buzek
Former Prime Minister and President of the European Parliament, Professor Jerzy Buzek, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. The official ceremony took place on March 31 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice.
Professor Jerzy Buzek, a distinguished graduate of the Silesian University of Technology, had previously received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater in 2007. He was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the development of Polish and European science, his role in creating the EU research program enabling the formation of an efficient and unified European research area—including new member states—and his tireless advocacy for the development of clean coal technologies as a vital element of Europe’s secure energy system.
For many years, Professor Buzek has also collaborated with the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology in the recurring “Sustainable Development Scientific Debut” competition, generously sharing his expertise gained through work in numerous Polish and European institutions.
The Dean and the entire community of the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology extend their heartfelt congratulations to Professor Buzek, along with wishes for good health and continued strength in his efforts for the benefit of Silesia, Poland, and Europe.
We look forward to welcoming you again at our Faculty.
