- Comparison of isotherm models for selected dyes adsorption on aluminosilicates from their aqueous solutions
Synthetic dyes are becoming a more and more frequent component of wastewater discharged from industrial plants, and their relatively low concentrations in these aqueous solutions indicate adsorption methods as the most appropriate method of their separation. The aim of the work will be to verify the computational suitability of several models of adsorption isotherms for experimental data, describing quantitatively the adsorption equilibrium in aqueous solutions of synthetic dyes with the use of selected aluminosilicate sorbents and theoretical interpretation of the determined parameters of each model.

- Densimetry as a tool in crystallization process
The goal of this work is to experimentally determine the solubilities and densities of different inorganic salts solutions. Then, on the basis of received data a mathematical model binding together solubility, density and temperature will be created. The measurements will be performed in the laboratory of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Process Design. This research project requires the student’s availability to work in the laboratory. The basic laboratory skills are required (sample preparation etc.) and good knowledge of English in order to read available scientific papers.

- Bioreactor design for batch process operation
The work has a design character. The aim of the project will be to develop a computational scheme for a biotechnological process to enable the design of a bioreactor operating in batch mode. Based upon the developed algorithm, sample calculations of the kinetics, material and energy balance of the bioreactor will be carried out.

- The concept and the design of a spiral heat exchanger working in the liquid-vapour system.
The main aim of the presented project is focused on the processing and design calculations of a spiral heat exchanger working as a condenser in a rectification system.
Implementation of the project requires i) the knowledge of devices working as heat exchangers and principles of heat transfer operations, ii) proficiency in processing and design calculations, as well as iii) the knowledge in the field of materials’ mechanics (strength of materials).
