Faculty of Civil Engineering

On 9 October 2024, the 80th Inauguration of the Academic Year at the Faculty of Civil Engineering took place.

Employees, invited guests and students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering gathered in the Educational and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology to listen to the opening speech of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Barbara Klemczak, followed by the opening lecture entitled "From the secrets of the pyramids to the Mars habitat. A thing about innovations in building construction', given by Dr Marcin Górski, Assoc. Professor, Director of the Project Management Centre.

During the ceremony, the Silesian Regional Chamber of Civil Engineers also awarded prizes for the best diploma theses defended in 2023. The winners of the "Competition for the Award of the Silesian Regional Chamber of Civil Engineers for Master's Theses Defended at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology" were women:

• Klaudia Bogacz, M.Sc., thesis entitled ‘Analysis of the Possibility of Applying Composite Ties in a Pre-stressed HC Slab’, supervisor D.Sc., Eng. Rafał Krzywoń,
• Klaudia Gęsicka, M.Sc., thesis entitled ‘Analysis of the possibility of applying composite tendons in TT prestressed slab’, supervisor D.Sc., Eng. Rafał Krzywoń.
