Seminar “Diagnostics of Machines Based on Vibrations and Noise” at the Department of Metrology, Electronics and Automation
On 19 November 2025, a seminar of the Department of Metrology, Electronics and Automation entitled “Diagnostics of Machines Based on Vibrations and Noise” was held in Room 20 of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology. The lecture was delivered by representatives of EC Test Systems Sp. z o.o. from Kraków: Ireneusz Mosek, Head of the PCB Piezotronics Sensors Department, and Wojciech Kotala, Sales Engineer. The seminar was attended by academic staff, PhD students and students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
During the seminar, the speakers discussed the importance of machine diagnostics based on vibration and noise measurements in the context of equipment reliability and maintenance planning. They presented the design and applications of PCB Piezotronics vibration sensors, principles of selecting appropriate transducers, and example configurations of the measurement chain. Modern data acquisition systems were also introduced, including a 4-channel ROGA acquisition card, as well as the capabilities of Phantom high-speed cameras used for analysing dynamic phenomena.
An essential part of the seminar was the practical demonstration. Participants had the opportunity to see the portable VibroGo laser vibrometer in operation, working together with the acquisition card and vibration sensors, and to observe live the recorded signals and analysis results. After the presentation, a lively discussion followed.
