Ph.D. Krzysztof Kubiczek is the winner of the prestigious award of the Polish Science Foundation
An employee of our Department, Ph.D. Krzysztof Kubiczek, has been awarded the prestigious prize of the Polish Science Foundation "Start". Prestigious scholarships were awarded to 100 outstanding young scientists. This year, scholarships were awarded for the thirtyth time. The winners were selected in a multistage competition from a group of 794 candidates. The competition assessed the quality of their scientific achievements to date. This year, the largest number of scholarships, 31, was awarded to researchers in the field of biological and medical sciences. The ranking of institutions from which the largest number of laureates comes was again headed by the University of Warsaw (12 scholarship holders), the Jagiellonian University (10 scholarship holders) came second, and the AGH University of Science and Technology in third place. Stanisław Staszic (9 scholarship recipients). This year, the Silesian University of Technology received a total of two scholarships. Ph.D. Krzysztof Kubiczek specialises in numerical modeling of electromagnetic and thermoelectric phenomena.

Two distinctions and the IEEE Gold Medal for Professor Marian Kampik
We are proud to announce that the Head of our Department, Prof. Marian Kampik, received two distinctions and the Gold Medal of the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for publishing activity in the journal "Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement" over the last seven years.
Study visit to the FCA Poland plant
On 10 May 2018, a group of students from Power Engineering, Semester IV, participated in a study visit to the FCA Poland plant in Tychy. The students were supervised by employees of the Department of Metrology, Electronics and Automatics: Ph.D. Janusz Tokarski, Ph.D. Ryszard Bogacz, and Ph.D. Beata Krupanek. During the visit, under the supervision of professional guides, students had the opportunity to visit the Fiat 500 and Lancia car factory.
