Prof. dr hab. inż. Sylwia Bajkacz z tytułem Profesora!

We are proud and delighted to announce that, by order of the President of the Republic of Poland on April 7, 2026, Dr. Sylwia Bajkacz, DSc, Eng., has been awarded the title of Professor of Natural Sciences in the discipline of Chemical Sciences.

This is one of those moments when a scientific journey – built on consistency, passion, and courage in tackling important research topics – reaches its exceptional culmination. The Professor's achievements are an impressive story of modern analytical chemistry, which does not remain confined to the laboratory but responds to the real challenges of the modern world.

Professor Sylwia Bajkacz's research focuses on environmental analytics, particularly the development and application of advanced methods for determining micropollutants and their transformation products in water, wastewater, soils, and plant material. Pharmaceuticals, including antibiotics, per- and polyfluoroalkyl compounds, and other substances whose presence in the environment is crucial for human safety, ecosystems, and quality of life. This is a highly relevant and necessary field of study, combining the precision of modern analytical techniques with the practical application of environmental protection. The results of her research support the monitoring of pollutants, the assessment of the effectiveness of treatment processes, and the identification of threats that often remain invisible until detected by sensitive analytical methods.

The professor's achievements include nearly 100 publications on the JCR list, several chapters in scientific monographs, a cumulative Impact Factor exceeding 436, and once an H-index of 30. She has presented her research results at numerous national and international conferences. She has led research projects and participated in projects funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR), and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, among others, while developing collaborations with research centers and partners from the economic environment.

A significant dimension of Professor Sylwia Bajkacz's work is also her commitment to the development of young scientists. Under her supervision, two distinguished doctoral dissertations were written, as well as numerous master's theses and engineering projects, whose authors have been recognized in numerous local and national competitions. This is an important part of the Professor's legacy – demonstrating not only the strength of her research but also her ability to inspire future generations of researchers.
Her achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and distinctions, including the Minister of Higher Education Scholarship for outstanding young scientists, the Award for the best doctoral dissertation in analytical chemistry related to the development of separation techniques, awarded by the Committee on Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Chemical Society Award for Scientific Achievement, and the Professor Kazimierz Bartel Medal for outstanding achievements in science. Professor Sylwia Bajkacz was also recognized among the prestigious Top 2% of most influential researchers in the world.
We sincerely congratulate Professor Bajkacz on this exceptional achievement. We wish her continued scientific courage, inspiring discoveries, and further successes, demonstrating that analytical chemistry can be not only a precise research tool but also an important voice in caring for the environment and the future.
