“Chemikalia” at the Faculty of Chemistry
On May 21st, in the charming garden of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Silesian University of Technology, “Chemikalia” took place once again. It was a traditional Faculty grill, football, and volleyball matches, as well as chemical presentations. This was a joint celebration of students, doctoral students, and the Faculty staff. The event was organized by the Council of the Student Self-Government of the Faculty of Chemistry and the Student Science Club of Chemists.
“Chemikalia” is an event that returned to the Faculty two years ago and has enjoyed great success since then.
- This is an event with a long tradition at our Faculty and I am glad that after the reactivation it has become a permanent fixture in the calendar. I hope that it will remain so. It is a nice break from work and learning and an opportunity to talk to students and colleagues. It is accompanied by a very nice atmosphere. We are trying to make it look like this at our Faculty – explains the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Wojciech Simka.
During the “Chemikalia” event there was no shortage of joint grilling and face painting. There was also a mobile promotional laboratory of the Silesian University of Technology “Xperium PŚ.” The day began with the great emotions that accompanied a football match between the Faculty staff and the students. The teachers were better, winning 6-2. There was also a volleyball tournament, in which several teams composed of the students of the Faculty competed. The winners came home with the award trophies.
- We can say that this is a small celebration of our Faculty. It is time for fun and joint talks, and for the finale of the event - as the Student Science Club of Chemists - we prepared a chemical presentation - says Filip Wojtas Eng., the Chairman of the Student Self-Government at the Faculty of Chemistry.
