Dr Eng. Piotr Latos from the Faculty of Chemistry is a laureate of the LEADER UP program
The success of a scientist from the Faculty of Chemistry of the Silesian University of Technology – Dr Eng. Piotr Latos, who received support for the implementation of his research project entitled: Development of an innovative process of obtaining esters against the catalyst in the form of ion liquids based on titanium, acronym: TiILEst.
The LEADER UP program is a new version of the program implemented by the National Centre for Research and Development, the aim of which is to develop the competences of young scientists in the field of independent planning, management, and conducting research projects with implementation potential. The program also serves to strengthen cooperation between the scientific community and business and to inspire entrepreneurs to invest in research and development (R&D).
The first pilot competition LEADER UP includes three stages: Training and mentoring, project, and pre-implementation, which are to prepare participants for the effective implementation and implementation of research results.
In the first quarter of the year, the NCBR received 708 applications in the first competition, and 448 applications received a positive evaluation. According to the rules of the competition, 100 people were qualified for the first training and mentoring phase.
Among the winners is Dr Eng. Piotr Latos from the Faculty of Chemistry. His participation in the program is an important distinction for the University and confirms the activity of its young scientists in the field of application research and development works.
The LEADER UP program is intended to support the development of scientific staff, in particular by financing programs addressed to young scientists within the meaning of Article 360(2) of the Law on Higher Education and Science, aimed at raising competences in the field of independent planning, management and management of the research team, through the implementation of research projects (application and development research), the results of which are practical and have implementation potential.
