Graduate of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, specialization Computer Methods in Structural Mechanics in 1996. He started his scientific and teaching activity in 1996 in the Department of Theoretical Mechanics. Since 2013, after reorganization, he continued to work in the Department of Mechanics and Bridges. In 2001 he received the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences and in 2014 the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences in the specialty of Physics of Structures and Computer Methods in Mechanics.

He was several times a research fellow at European universities in the UK (University of Loughborough, City University in London) and Slovakia (Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava).

Author or co-author of over 60 works in total - monographs, national and international articles, published papers on national and international conferences.

Member of the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians, Association of Engineers and Technicians of Building Materials Industry and Polish Society for Computer Methods in Mechanics. On March 16, 2012 he was appointed member of the Building Physics Section of the Committee on Civil Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the term 2011-2014.

His scientific and research activities are related to the problems of computer modeling and mathematical description of coupled problems of degradation of materials subjected to aggressive environment.

For his teaching and organizational activities he received three times the award of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology.
