Graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, specialising in computational methods in structural mechanics (2000). Doctorate and post-doctorate in Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Transportation at the Silesian University of Technology (2004 and 2022, respectively). He currently works as a professor at the University in the Department of Geotechnics and Roads.

His research interests include modelling of soil behaviour under complex load paths. He also works on issues of foundations in difficult ground conditions and slope and embankment stability. He is author or co-author of 90 publications, including 1 monograph and 7 articles from the JCR database (total IF = 17,151). Hirsch index according to the Scopus database - 4, according to the WoS database - 5. Associate supervisor of 2 completed doctoral theses. Reviewer of nearly 100 scientific articles, mainly published by Elsevier and Springer. Reviewer of 4 doctoral theses, member of postdoctoral and doctoral committees. He is a member of the Civil Engineering Commission of the Katowice Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He was the Chairman of the Silesian Branch of the Polish Committee for Geotechnics (2 terms) and is currently a member of the Board of the Silesian Branch of the PKG. He was the manager of 1 grant financed by KBN and the contractor in 2 grants carried out by cooperating universities. He is the author or co-author of 318 expert opinions, expert reports and design analyses in cooperation with industry, as well as 18 court opinions. He teaches courses in soil mechanics, foundations and advanced issues in geotechnics.

• Winner of the award of the Minister of Regional Development and Construction for his doctoral thesis (2005).
• Laureate of the RGH Rector's grant and the pro-quality program of the Silesian University of Technology.
• Laureate of the Silesian University of Technology Rector's award for scientific activity.
