Graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, specialising in applied mathematics and mathematical modelling (1999). Doctorate and post-doctorate degrees in Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Transport from the Silesian University of Technology in 2005 and 2019 respectively. He currently works at the University as a Professor of Construction Processes and Building Physics.

He specialises in building physics in the broadest sense, especially in building acoustics and heat and mass transport through the building envelope. He is the author or co-author of more than 167 scientific publications, including 1 monograph, 19 books (including textbooks) and 39 indexed in the Scopus database. Total IF - 84,109. Hirsch index according to SCOPUS database - 14, according to WoS database - 12. He has supervised 2 doctoral theses and 2 more are in progress. Reviewer of almost 200 scientific articles, almost half of them published by Elsevier. Reviewer of doctoral theses and member of habilitation and doctoral committees. He is a member of the Board of the Upper Silesian Branch of the Polish Acoustical Society and a member of the Commission of Civil Engineering of the Katowice Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He has been a member of three research teams in national projects. He has completed 2-month internships in national scientific institutes. He teaches mathematics, modelling, solving decision problems, building physics, etc.
