Graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology and the Institute of Higher Religious Culture at the Catholic University of Lublin (1993).
Received her doctoral degree in technical sciences in 2002, and her postdoctoral degree in the specialty of geotechnics in 2009. She received the title of professor of technical sciences in 2018.

Her areas of scientific and research interest include: physical and mechanical properties of native and anthropogenic soils, computational models of the subsoil, cooperation of structures with the subsoil, and methods of strengthening weak subsoil.

She is the author or co-author of more than 280 publications in national and international journals, including many papers published at national and international conferences.

She has promoted 117 engineering and master's theses, 10 completed and 4 started doctoral dissertations, reviewed more than 370 theses and more than 350 articles and conference papers, 2 professorial applications, 8 habilitation applications, 21 doctoral dissertations and 3 academic textbooks. She is the author or co-author of more than 70 expert reports, opinions and projects. In addition, she is a reviewer for NCN, NCBiR and MIUR (Italy).

For her doctoral thesis entitled: Computational model of a pile made by high-pressure jet grouting technique, she was awarded by the Minister of Infrastructure and awarded by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology. In addition, she was awarded the Bronze Cross of Merit, as well as the Rector's awards for scientific, teaching and organizational activities.

Within the framework of her organizational activities, she has served as, among others: Chairwoman of the Organizing Committee of the 5th and 11th Scientific Conference of Doctoral Students of Civil Engineering Faculties (2004, 2011), Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the 13th National Conference on Mechanics of Soils and Foundations and the 2nd National Conference of Young Geotechnicians Geotechnical Problems of Mining Areas (2003), Chairwoman of the Organizing Committee of the 68th Krynica Scientific Conference of the Committee on Civil Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Committee on Science of PZITB (2023). She was co-organizer of the ICEE 2005 International Conference, INEER International Conference on Engineering Education, held in Gliwice in July 2005.

From 2007 to 2013, she served as the Editorial Secretary of the Architecture - Civil Engineering - Environment ACEE journal, and from 2014 to 2016 she was the Construction Section Editor of the journal.

From 2010 to 2016, she served as Head of Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Silesian University of Technology, and Supervisor of six Scientific Conferences of Doctoral Students of the Faculties of Civil Engineering.

She is a member of: Polish Committee of Geotechnics PKG, International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation ISSMFE, Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians, Scientific Committee of PZiTB, Founding Member of International Geosynthetics Society Polish Charter, Member of Technical Committee No. 254 on Geotechnics of the Polish Committee for Standardization. Geotechnics of the Polish Committee for Standardization, Silesian District Chamber of Civil Engineers, Committee on Civil Engineering - Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Katowice, Member of the Working Group of the Geotechnics and Underground Infrastructure Section of the Committee on Civil Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. During the 2016-2020 term, she served as vice-chair of the Geotechnics and Underground Infrastructure Section of the KILiW of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In addition, she is a reviewer for the American Society of Civil Engineers - International Journal of Geomechanics, and has served as Associate Editor for the International Journal of Geomechanics since 2021. Since 2022 she has been a Member of the Silesian Council for Work Safety in Construction at the District Labor Inspector in Katowice, and since 2023 she has been a Member of the Association of Engineers and Technicians of Transportation of the Republic of Poland.

She holds a Certificate of the Polish Committee of Geotechnics and a construction license to design and direct construction works without limitations in the road specialty. She is the co-author of the academic textbook Communication Geotechnics.
Since September 1, 2013, she has been the Head of the Department of Geotechnics and Roads at the Faculty of Construction at the Silesian University of Technology, and since September 1, 2016, she has been the Dean of the Faculty of Construction at the Silesian University of Technology.
