The curriculum for the IoT (Internet of Things) specialization covers the issues of the Internet of Things, ranging from elementary devices, sensors, actuators and microcontrollers, to edge-class solutions (Edge) and cloud-based solutions, and network programming. During the course, students will learn about several problems and challenges related to communication between devices (M2M class communication: Machine-to-Machine), user interfaces and security of IoT systems as well as their practical applications. As part of the practical classes, both individual hardware solutions, programming solutions of the embedded systems class as well as entire IoT ecosystems, including sensor networks and systems using data collection, analysis and processing are created. As part of the practical courses, students use both contact classes and a unique solution using laboratories with remote access. Practitioners conduct courses with experience in implementing projects in the industrial sector, often including members of the Silesian Cluster of the Internet of Things and external companies from the IoT industry. Materials and classes are provided in English. In addition, students can take advantage of three courses dedicated to their specialties, available through the e-learning platform and / or the EDX platform, directly related to the subject, and available for self-study, in order to supplement information and/or broaden their horizons. A graduate of Internet of Things knows enough to start their work in businesses related to industrial automation, systems of intelligent solutions for homes, cities and industry (especially in the context of Industry 4.0), networks for collecting, storing and processing data and communication protocols specific to IoT, as well as has the technical knowledge necessary to start a business in the form of, for example, an innovative startup.
