SUT scientists about the relationship between COVID-19 and cancer
International team of researchers representing Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (Shiraz, Iran), University of Turin (Torino, Italy), Italian Institute for Genomic Medicine (Torino, Italy), Candiolo Cancer Institute (Torino, Italy), University of Manitoba (Canada), University of Michigan (USA), Katowice School of Technology, and Silesian University of Technology discussed the potential long-term complications of COVID-19 infection resulting from the persistence of the viral particles in body tissues interacting with host cells’ autophagy machinery in the context of the development of cancer, cancer progression and metastasis, as well as response to treatment.
