Prof. Arkadiusz Gertych about computational pathology
Computational pathology is a discipline at the interface of computer science and digital pathology focused on improving efficiency and diagnostic quality in pathology. By integrating data from multiple platforms and implementing machine learning/AI algorithms, computational pathology can play a central role in creating personalized diagnosis and treatment plans. A major goal is to improve care of oncologic patients.
In his presentation, Prof. Arkadiusz Gertych, highlighted selected challenges and possible directions towards better diagnosis and pre-treatment patient stratification. In this context, histopathology image data serve as a platform for biomarker discovery. Prostate cancer and a select variant of lung cancer are used as disease models.
