Invitation for seminar.:"Single-cell transcriptomics"
Everyone is already in the festive spirit, but before we start enjoying the holiday season, let's take part in this year's final POB1 seminar.
Our guest will be Dr Krzysztof Polański from the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (CSCI) at the University of Cambridge. Krzysztof Polański is a computational scientist working on the Human Cell Atlas project. He specialises in single cell and spatial data analysis, with particular interests including batch correction and clustering algorithms. Krzysztof is a graduate of the Silesian University of Technology, where he obtained his engineering degree after completing a BSc programme in biotechnology, specialising in bioinformatics. He obtained a PhD in Systems Biology from the University of Warwick in 2015, with his thesis focusing on regulatory events in Arabidopsis response to stress, and joined Sarah Teichmann's lab in 2017 (first at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, then, since 2024, at the CSCI at the University of Cambridge).
He is the co-author of 95 publications in peer-reviewed journals with 15,000+ citations, his h=40 and i10=55. More details can be found at Google Scholar.
or ResearchGate
All those interested in the topic are cordially invited to join us on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, at 4 p.m. Warsaw time. The link to the event is provided below.

“Single-cell transcriptomics” by Krzysztof Polanski
Single-cell transcriptomics allows for more granular information capture than bulk assays. The talk will cover key processing steps - mapping, preprocessing, dimensionality reduction and downstream analysis. Various practical insight, tailored more toward the Python/Scanpy side, will be disclosed throughout. Other data modalities will be mentioned, along with a section on high resolution spatial transcriptomics.
