Another open lecture in the series “Faces of Business, Science and Politics. Management in Theory and Practice” focused on the areas where scientific research intersects with its practical implementation. Prof. Agnieszka Zakrzewska-Bielawska, PhD, DSc, Eng., Director of the Institute of Management at the Faculty of Organization and Management of Lodz University of Technology, met with students, staff, and guests attending the event. On 9 April, at the invitation of Prof. Aleksandra Kuzior, Dean of the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology, she delivered a lecture entitled “From the Laboratory to Practice: Why Good Research Rarely Translates into Real Change.”
Prof. Agnieszka Zakrzewska-Bielawska is Chair of the Scientific Discipline Council for Management and Quality Sciences and Chair of the Committee on Organization and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Her research specializes, among other areas, in strategic management, as well as the commercialization and valorization of knowledge understood as the university’s third mission. The lecture, received with great interest by the audience, addressed barriers hindering the transfer of technology and innovation that, thanks to science, could support economic and social development. The April edition of the open lecture series created an opportunity to engage with current, important, and often challenging issues presented from the perspective of a person with extensive managerial experience, head of numerous research projects, including those funded by the National Science Centre, and an outstanding scholar.
