Meeting of Experts of the Regional Weimar Triangle
On 13 October 2026, the Meeting of Experts of the Regional Weimar Triangle, held under the theme "Security of Public Institutions in an International Context", took place at the Silesian Stadium Conference Centre in Chorzów.
The event was attended by Serhiy Lyeonov, DSc, Associate Professor at the Silesian University of Technology, who represented our Department and participated as a panellist in an international discussion on disinformation in the age of artificial intelligence and geopolitical conflicts.
During his presentation, Professor Lyeonov highlighted the threats posed by disinformation to Europe's energy and economic security, drawing on the experiences of Poland, Germany and France. He also emphasised the dual role of artificial intelligence, which can both support the detection of disinformation and facilitate its creation and dissemination.
One of the key conclusions of the discussion was the need to strengthen public trust, the credibility of the media and public institutions, and accountability for the deliberate dissemination of false information.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the international exchange of experiences and the development of scientific cooperation in the fields of security and societal resilience to contemporary information threats.
