Visit of a Staff Member from the Department of Industrial Informatics to Hochschule Mittweida University of Applied Sciences

Last week, representatives of the Silesian University of Technology visited Hochschule Mittweida – University of Applied Sciences in Germany. The visit was organized within the framework of the activities of the EURECA-PRO European University Alliance. Its main objective was to exchange experiences and further strengthen cooperation between the partner universities.

The delegation consisted of staff members from the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Industrial Digitalization: Joanna Furman, PhD, Marzena Kuczyńska-Chałada, PhD, Prof. Agnieszka Fornalczyk, Head of the Department of Production Engineering, and Prof. Albert Smalcerz, Head of the Department of Industrial Informatics and Vice-Dean for Science and Cooperation.

The visit program included meetings with representatives of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences (Fakultät Ingenieurwissenschaften). Professor Ruben Bauer presented the faculty’s research and educational activities, including its key research areas, study programs, and ongoing projects. The scientific and educational activities of the Silesian University of Technology were presented by Professor Albert Smalcerz.

The Silesian University of Technology delegation also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the modern research and teaching infrastructure of Hochschule Mittweida. The participants visited laboratories dedicated to virtual reality, robotics, and machining technologies, as well as a laboratory equipped with an automated production line. They learned about the solutions used both in student education and in the implementation of research and development projects.

An important part of the program was a meeting between the Silesian University of Technology delegation and the Rector of Hochschule Mittweida. The discussions focused on the cooperation developed so far within the EURECA-PRO Alliance, opportunities for launching joint scientific and educational initiatives, and plans for future projects, as well as staff and student mobility.

The visit marked another important step in strengthening the partnership between the Silesian University of Technology and Hochschule Mittweida. It also reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation within the EURECA-PRO Alliance for the development of modern education, scientific research, and the exchange of best practices.
