The field of study Industrial Informatics is carried out at the Silesian University of Technology in Katowice and is a response to the market demand for specialists in computer programming, design and operation of industrial IT systems. These are interesting IT studies as they specialize in industrial IT solutions. The added value of the course: Industrial IT are representatives of the IT industry who constitute the program council of the educational program and organize internships and apprenticeships for students of this field.

What is the difference between Industrial Informatics and the so-called "Standard computer sciences"?

First of all, these are practical studies, during which the emphasis is on the programming and development of IT and industrial automation systems. The classes are conducted in cooperation with representatives of leading IT companies in Silesia. Additionally, the student learns to solve problems in the field of: software engineering, artificial intelligence methods, programming, and the use of industrial IT systems. Examples include the design of artificial intelligence programs, database systems, or multimedia systems. One thing is certain - as part of the Industrial Informatics studies you will gain professional experience and you will not be bored!

Industrial informatics (practical profile) - profile of a graduate of first-cycle studies (B.Eng.)

The field of industrial informatics (practical profile) is integrated and covers a number of fields of study traditionally conducted at technical universities. In addition to computer science, it partially covers issues related to materials engineering, robotics, electrical engineering as well as electronics and telecommunications.

The main goal of studies in this field is to educate IT engineers with a practical profile, able to later function effectively in the industrial sphere, as well as to work in general engineering positions, interdisciplinary, but also able to easily adapt to standard systems related to computer science and production engineering.

Graduates of industrial computer science (practical profile) can work both in positions traditionally intended for an IT engineer, as well as in other engineering positions in industry. These studies also prepare for the further development of competencies in other fields of engineering, e.g. production engineering, as part of informal learning, as well as for second-cycle studies and education at a doctoral school.
