Another scientific publication by our students in a journal

As part of projects carried out within the Project-Based Learning (PBL) system, funded by the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” program, students of Industrial Informatics (Faculty of Materials Engineering and Industrial Digitalization) and Electrical Engineering (Faculty of Electrical Engineering) conducted innovative research that has resulted in scientific publications. We are proud to announce that their work has been published in the scientific and technical journal “Śląskie Wiadomości Elektryczne.”

The first of the published PBL projects, titled “Development of a Synthetic Neuron System Based on Nanomaterials,” appeared in issue 1/2026 of the journal. It was prepared by a team of students: Kamil Warczek, Antoni Surowy, Jakub Archabuz, Bartosz Sęk, Konrad Jaworek, and Marcin Mojza. The work was carried out under the academic supervision of Bartłomiej Nowacki, and Krzysztof Habelok, Ph.D. As part of this project, the team focused on automating a measurement setup and studying memristor-based systems acting as synthetic neurons, which we reported on in February.

The second published article, titled “Development of a Synthetic Mechanoreceptor System Based on the Piezotronic Effect,” appeared in issue 2/2026. The authors of this work are students: Kacper Bieniek, Dawid Ciećko, Daniel Byra, Mikołaj Ryter, Natalia Kuśka, and Jonatan Rzyczniok. The project was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Albert Smalcerz, and Anna Kochmańska, Ph.D. The aim of the work was to automate a setup for electrical measurements of innovative piezotronic sensors made of nanocomposites.

This distinction is the result of the students’ great commitment and the professional support of their academic supervisors. The success of these projects clearly highlights the importance of modern, research-based education (PBL) in developing the key competencies of future engineers.

We warmly congratulate both teams and wish them continued success in their scientific careers!
