Department of Industrial Informatics

The Department of Industrial Informatics had the pleasure of organizing, together with the Center for Continuing Education of the Silesian University of Technology, a workshop on artificial intelligence in robotics in the IT laboratory of the Academic Highschool of the Silesian University of Technology in Rybnik. The event took place on February 2 as part of the Artificial Intelligence Week, which was part of the extensive celebrations of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.

During the workshops, Maciej Sajkowski, PhD, an employee of the Department of Industrial Informatics, introduced the participants to the practical aspects of using artificial neural networks to control mobile robots. It was an opportunity to learn in a nutshell the technologies used, among others, in autonomous cars. The equipment provided by the Department of Industrial Informatics in the form of Jetracer and Jetbot robots made it possible to experiment with changes in the robot's movement conditions and their impact on its reaction. Moreover, it was possible to learn the process of training an artificial neural network in real conditions. The workshops were also visited by media representatives.
