Science Slam “Po Ślōnsku.” Scientists “poradzōm gŏdać” about science!
Scientists “poradzōm gŏdać po ślōnsku,” about the scientific work, and already on the 19th of March in the “Spiral” Club in Gliwice we will be able to check how science uses the tradition and culture of the region. The event is open to the public.
Science slam is one of the forms of popularization of science, which abandons academic frameworks and lecture schemes in favour of dynamic and engaging speeches. The initiative implemented by the Science Popularization Centre of the Silesian University of Technology adds another element: the Silesian language. Science Slam po Ślōnsku will bring science closer to all those who "poradzōm gŏdać po ślōnsku" and those who - although they do not know the Silesian language - feel connected to the region and its culture.
During Science Slam “Po Ślōnsku” on March 19th at 18:00 in the “Spiral” Student Club in Gliwice, scientists and PhD students from Gliwice, Katowice, Opole, Wrocław and Warsaw will deliver their presentations. Their research – with which will be able to get acquainted with during the event – concerns, among others.

Active “Larmo” reduction, i.e. designing technology to prevent, among others, noise of machinery and equipment,

Villages close to Raciborz, i.e. specific urban planning, and architecture of such towns as Krzanowice, Borucin, Rudy Raciborskie,

“Zbiyranie szplitrów i gnatów gadzin”,e. paleontological research,
-
“Lōnie wŏdy w robocie,” that is, the study of fluid flow in metallurgy.
The viewers gathered in the “Spiral” will be able to benefit from a simultaneous translation by Grzegorz Buchalik – member of the Council of Silesian Language, translator of books, novels, and comics into Silesian language, such as “Asterix on the Olympic Games,” “Mikołajek – ślōnsko edycyjo,” “Kajko and Kokosz.”
The audience will choose the best performance, and the author will receive a special prize.
