Faculty of Biomedical Engineering

We are proud to announce that the scientific and research potential of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology and the European HealthTech Innovation Center (EHTIC) will be utilized in a new, strategic collaboration with the defense industry. During this year's International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO), the Silesian University of Technology signed a letter of intent with Casp System Sp. z o.o. and the Special Production Plant "GAMRAT" (part of the Polish Armaments Group).

What will our role be in this venture?
A key element of the collaboration will be the involvement of experts from our Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence. Utilizing our laboratory and scientific facilities, we will work together with our partners on:

- the development of digital radiography (DR) systems and advanced 3D imaging,
- the creation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for the automated assessment of products,
- the automation and analysis of massive image datasets.

Our solutions will support experts at the newly opened Non-Destructive Testing Center of ZPS GAMRAT – the most modern facility of its kind in the Polish Armaments Group. AI algorithms developed by our scientists will assist in faster, more repeatable, and precise quality control of products. This proves that the technologies, data analysis systems, and AI algorithms developed at our Faculty and within EHTIC are highly interdisciplinary and find applications not only in medicine but also in such a demanding sector as the defense industry.
