From May 11th to 13th, the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio hosted the first international seminar of grant partners under the "NAWA Strategic Partnerships - 2024 Call" program. The project, titled "Partnership for the Protection and Modernization of Architectural Heritage from the Second Half of the 20th Century in the Perspective of Green Transition and Environmental Challenges," is being implemented by the Department of Theory, Design, and History of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture in collaboration with the Department of Structural Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

The grant is headed by Professor Magdalena Żmudzińska-Nowak, PhD, DSc, Eng., Arch.. The seminar was attended by representatives of the Silesian University of Technology (project leader) and the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, the Technical University of Crete, the University of Beira Interior, and the Technical University of Valencia (project partners).

The main goal of the project is to support academic institutions in their research and build their scientific and teaching capacity through internationalization and the exchange of knowledge and experiences between institutions. The goal is to create an international, partnership-based research network and integrate joint activities for the study and protection of the architectural heritage of the second half of the 20th century. This collaboration enables coordinated, long-term research efforts that address contemporary environmental and climatic challenges. Building a lasting partnership encompassing research, ongoing information exchange, and monitoring of mutual experiences not only provides a valuable knowledge base for project activities but also contributes to strengthening the Silesian University of Technology's international presence.
