The team of Julia Będkowska, Daniel Bobrowski, and Paulina Olschowka, under the supervision of their supervisor, PhD, Eng., Arch. Aleksandra Witeczek, won first prize in the national final of the Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest Belgrade 2026 and will represent the country in the international final of the competition in Serbia in June. Their concept, GNEZDOM, a project based on the idea of ​​combining the Serbian "gnezdo" (nest) and the Polish "dom," was recognized for its comprehensive approach, thorough urban planning analysis, analysis of user needs, and coherent, sustainable architectural vision. "Like birds building nests from elements found in the environment, we use the remains of a former cement factory to create a new structure for life." The project also received a distinction in the "Design" category.

The authors would like to thank PhD, DSc, Eng., Arch. Michał Stangl, Professor of the Silesian University of Technology, for his technical support in the area of ​​urban design. Ten teams from Faculties of Architecture across Poland qualified for the national finals of the competition, with two representing our Faculty. Kornelia Kajda and Justyna Stachowicz, under the supervision of Krzysztof Rostański, PhD, DSc, Eng, Arch., Professor at the Silesian University of Technology, also presented their concept.

During the event, Andrzej Duda, PhD, Eng, Arch., Professor at the Silesian University of Technology, was honored for his long-standing commitment to the competition.
