On September 25, 2025, the Angevin-Aragonese Castle in Gaeta (Lazio, Italy) hosted the opening of the exhibition "Ex CASERMA Vittorio Emmanuele II - ex-military site in the former Dominican monastery of Gaeta (Lazio, Italy) - adaptation and modernization for new functions." This exhibition is the result of a research and teaching project carried out as part of the "Conservation Design" course at the Department of Theory, Design and History of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Silesian University of Technology.

The exhibition was part of the "European Research Night" 2025 event organized by the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICAS) in collaboration with the European University of Technology (EUT+) as part of the European Commission's "Science, Technology and Research for Ethical Engagement Translated in Society" (S.T.R.E.E.T.) HORIZON-MSCA-2023-Citizens-01 project.

The exhibition presents projects for the conservation, modernization, and adaptation of former military barracks located in the medieval Dominican monastery in Gaeta.
The project partner is the AGENZIA DEL DEMANIO military property agency, the Regional Directorate of Lazio in Rome, and the supporting partner is the University of Cassino.

The exhibition will be open for a month, but already on its first day it sparked a lively discussion with partners, city authorities, and representatives of conservation offices.

The exhibition is curated by Professor Magdalena Żmudzińska-Nowak, PhD, DSc, Eng., Arch., in collaboration with Professor Assunta Pelliccio and Professor Marco Saccucci from the University of Cassino.
