Biennale Gliwice - lecture by Dr. Ryszard Nakonieczny combined with a scientific walk
As part of the Gliwice 2025 Biennale, on Monday, June 30, a special meeting with Dr. Eng. Arch. Ryszard Nakonieczny – an architect, researcher and popularizer of the history of architecture – took place. During the lecture, Dr. Nakonieczny – co-founder of the Dom Modernisty Foundation, organizer of architectural walks in Silesian cities, curator of numerous exhibitions and author of publications on modernism – talked about hidden meanings, details and urban “persuasions” in the development of two important compositional axes of Gliwice: Zwycięstwa, Wyszyńskiego, Strzody and Akademicka streets. This is a proposition for those who want to learn to “read” the city like a book – with attention, sensitivity and awareness of the layers hidden in architecture. After the theoretical part, the lecture participants went out into the field to independently discover what usually escapes attention.
