A week-long trip within the ERASMUS+ programme
During the week-long ERASMUS+ program visit to the Faculty of Architecture of the partner university University of Rwanda by prof. Michał Stangl and prof. Michał Sitek, many activities were carried out.
During the stay, discussions were held on the development of cooperation between the universities in the field of teaching, transfer of knowledge and experience from scientific work and the possibility of cooperation in publishing. During the five-day stay, meetings with the teaching staff of the host university and numerous consultations and lectures for students were held. The topics of the meetings concerned the urban development of rapidly developing regions and cities in Africa and aspects of sustainable water and energy management using local resources. The open form of the seminar organized for all students of the faculty allowed for the exchange of experiences and a better understanding of the problems faced by universities. The stay in Kigali was very intensive and fruitful.
In addition to the activities at the university, it was possible to see and feel the atmosphere of the capital of RWANDA. The rapidly developing city is full of contrasts. Dynamically developing IT hubs, business incubators and fab labs, alongside centres focusing on preserving the culture and traditions of ancestors, show how great a leap a society can make after being affected by the great tragedy of the past.
On behalf of the Professors, we thank you for your hospitality and support during your stay. We count on continuing our cooperation.
