A distinction for students of our Faculty
Students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology - Zuzanna Dzień, Aleksandra Kowalczyk, Wiktoria Musiolik and Wiktoria Słowińska took part in the third edition of the international competition ''Hospice - Home for Terminally Ill'' organized by Buildner.com - and were among 6 distinguished teams from around the world!
The competition task was to create a space that supports people struggling with an incurable disease, providing them with comfort, care and a sense of dignity.
The main goal of the authors was to understand the needs of people affected by the disease and design architecture that would best respond to them. Located in Przylasek Rusiecki near Krakow, the project "THE BRIDGE" draws inspiration from the surroundings, referring to the idea of a bridge,
which acts as a passage/connection between two realities - the banks of a river: the present and life after death.
The hospice uses the advantages of the area to create a comprehensive environment that supports the holistic well-being of patients, taking care not only of their physical health, but also of their emotional, spiritual and social needs.
Project supervisor: Dr. Eng. Arch. Jerzy Wojewódka, Prof. PŚ
