The exhibition presents the works of students and employees of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology. Student works have been completed as part of a study course at various levels of education in the last few years. Works of research and teaching staff carried out as part of their scientific, teaching, creative and professional design activities.

Being "different" means having characteristics that distinguish one person from another.

The aim of the exhibition is to present "different" approaches to given design topics, intellectual challenges, architectural explorations and creative solutions. The otherness - "otherness" - of the works indicates the individualism of young creators and the constant original creative searches of their teachers. "Other" are all participants in this mutual exchange of ideas and dialogue: teacher - student. Therefore, the results of this creative relationship must be "different". Academic contestation of engineering conventions by young architecture students, conducted by experienced teaching staff, results in "otherness" of solutions. The confrontation of the lack of formal prejudices with the regime of functionality shapes "otherness". As a result of this confrontation, not only a design concept is created, but this activity also influences the "otherness" of the creator's views, behavior, thinking and, ultimately, the personality. The personality of both the student and the teacher. This relationship influences the originality of architectural creativity.

Selected term papers prepared by students from different years of study as part of several course subjects present their "otherness" in many of their layers. What comes to the fore is the search for an individual architectural idea, form and the selection of non-standard means of expression. The functionality of the solutions is closely related to the guiding architectural and urban idea. Consistently pursued "different" ideas from the very beginning translates into non-standard creative searches for various types of functional, spatial and material solutions.

The projects and creative works of employees of the Faculty of Architecture conducting various creative, artistic and professional activities are characterized by originality and approach to given creative and design problems. “Otherness” is an immanent feature of the teacher here. “Otherness” is the driving force behind questioning standard solutions and seeking professional development.

The "Others" exhibition - presents the interdisciplinarity of architecture as an engineering, but creatively artistic discipline, seeking new challenges and proposing original solutions.
